Description

“St. Louis Symphony Orchestra” was commissioned to commemorate the opening of Powell Symphony Hall on January 28, 1968 as the new home of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. This colorful and rhythmic composition is evidence of the artist’s lifelong love of music. Rauschenberg worked with the composer John Cage and, during his long association with dance companies, with the choreographer Merce Cunningham.
