Description
A poster created for the Oakland Museum’s 1983 exhibition entitled ‘In Color: Ten California Photographers’. The focus is Hockney’s 1982 composite polaroid series ‘Ian Swimming, Los Angeles, 1982.’ Hockney, initially sceptical of photography’s ability to create complex art, adopted the polaroid medium with its immediacy to facilitate multiple perspectives of a singular moment or subject, striking a balance between abstraction and cubism.
