Description
Hugo Laubi’s playful, comic poster for the famous Swiss resort of St. Moritz is a prime example of
Laubi’s highly collectable aesthetic in excellent condition. Featuring bold and graphic design,
Laubi’s poster shows a comic image of the sun basking in the Albula alps in a cradle adorned
with photos of exotic and emerging winter sports. St. Moritz was not only a major destination for
skiing and other winter sports – it hosted the Winter Olympics in 1928 and 1948 – but was also a
famous sunny resort, enjoying over three hundred days of sunshine a year. Laubi’s ecstatic depiction
of sun and snow conveys the energy and excitement of St. Moritz as a tourist destination in the midcentury.
