Description
Hugo Laubi’s 1938 poster in outstanding condition and backed beautifully on Japanese tissue paper, remains a pinnacle design of the early-to-mid-century ski poster. His poster for the alpine town of Arosa is one of his most loveable works capturing the buzz and excitement of the famous St. Moritz region in the 1930s through a range of colourful and dynamic characters. Laubi’s characteristic employment of both sun and snow reflects the desirable climate of Arosa, an attractive destination for hikers in the summer and for alpine sports enthusiasts in the winter. The popularity of Arosa continues to this day, with the creation of the new ski resort ‘Arosa Lenzerheide’ in 2013. As a result this rare, highly collectable and beautifully designed poster has a timeless quality.
