Description
Bagatelle’s magnificent rose garden was laid out in 1906, with box-edged beds and 200 different varieties of roses, making a total of 10,000 rose bushes. Its Concours international de roses nouvelles remains one of the social highlights of the French horticultural calendar.
This original travel poster advertised a visit to the rose garden in June, when the roses are in full bloom. The artist, Madeleine Monier excelled in floral illustration and this image is typical of her 1960s style.
